Cleaning Your Rice Cooker

Cleaning a rice cooker is easy if you follow this simple step-by-step guide. You should first remove the lid and then scrape out the rice. After that, you need to wash the inside of the cooker with water and soap. Finally, you can wipe it down with a cloth.

  • Rinse the rice in a large bowl: Place the rice in a large colander or strainer and rinse it thoroughly under cold water. The water running through rice will initially appear milky, but will later turn clear. If there’s still some haze, it’s okay. Don’t worry about drying out the rice before cooking; just leave it a bit moist.
  • Put the rice and water in a rice cooker: Stir in the salt. If you didn’t rinse the rice before cooking, add a few extra cups of water now.

  • Fluff the rice and serve: Use a wooden spatula to fold the rice in the rice cook­er, then serve straight from it or transfer the rice to another serving bowl. Warm them up before serving.
